On our first day of excursions we start in the historic downtown center of Mexico City. First we will visit Zocalo which is in central Mexico City. It is home to the Metropolitan Cathedral which is Latin America’s largest and oldest cathedral.
Next we go to Templo Mayor which once stood as the Aztec’s ‘Great Temple’. Palacio de Bellas Artes is one of the most outstanding cultural centers in Mexico City and is home to some of the most famous Mexican artists work.
Our last stop is a must to visit in Mexico City. The Museo Nacional de Antropologia. This museum holds symbolic artifacts from the Aztecs and more.
Travel outside of Mexico City to the beautiful colonial town Puebla. The town is filled with color and beautiful architecture. We will visit Casa de los Munecos, two volcanoes Iztaccihuatl and Popocatepetl and one of Mexico’s most magnificent cathedrals, Catedral de Puebla
First we will visit the Sierra Chincua Butterfly Sanctuary. Here we will embark on a horseback ride and a short hike up to viewing the monarchs.
Visit the famed Chapultepec Park. This 1695 acre oasis is the largest Urban Park in the Western Hemisphere. We will visit the Archaeological Institute, the Mexico Zoo, and spend the day hiking through this magnificent one of a kind landmarks.
Travel through beautiful villages to reach our second monarch sanctuary Piedra Herrada. We will take a 45 minute hike to view the monarchs.
On our excursion we will set sail on a traditional trajinera boat ride in Xochimilco. These boats are covered in alluring colors that will take you along the canals that is surrounded by gardens and chinampas.
Chinampas are the small islands that are used to grow vegetables, flowers and more.
Visit the mysterious temples of Teotihuacan. These temples were created by an unknown group that abandoned them and was soon discovered by the Aztecs who named them Teotihuacan.
Our last monarch sanctuary we will visit is El Rosario Butterfly Sanctuary. Here we will take another beautiful hike or horseback ride to view the monarch colony.
