In collaboration with the United Nations Ambassador of Dominica & the Dominican government we are creating local projects focused on sustainability through agriculture. We hope to bring experts on agriculture along with students to the island for agricultural forums. These forums will promote and inspire growth in Dominica’s agriculture industry.
Youth who go on the service learning trip also have the opportunity to rebuild homes that were destroyed during Hurricane Maria in 2017, contribute to the construction of a new hospital, and work in schools to spur excitement in local children about sustainability and agriculture.
We have also built a Youth Center in Castle Bruce where we house all students that attend service learning programs, when not serving students, this center serves as a hurricane shelter to the locals. This year we ran over 5 nursing programs in Dominica and have quite a few more in the pipeline.
