This Uganda trip begins with a journey to Entebbe, where you’ll settle in and visit Tsiyon Family Hospital to learn about its medical services and community initiatives. In the village of Sayyi, you’ll have opportunities to engage in meaningful activities, including assisting at a free medical clinic or exploring the village.

A day trip to Kampala offers a chance to shop at local markets and enjoy Ugandan cuisine. You’ll then travel to Fort Portal, known for its cultural richness, to visit Hands of Mercy Health Initiative, a nonprofit focused on improving healthcare.

The adventure continues at Murchison Falls National Park, home to the world’s most powerful waterfall, followed by a thrilling safari exploring diverse wildlife and landscapes. The trip concludes with a return to Sayyi for reflection before heading home.

Itinerary

Day 1 & 2Travel to Uganda

Day 3Arrival

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, Uganda, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your accommodation. Take this time to check in, settle into your room, and unwind after your journey.

In the afternoon, you’ll visit Tsiyon Family Hospital, a leading medical facility renowned for its contributions to community health. During your guided tour, you’ll explore various departments, learn about the hospital’s medical services, and discover their impactful healthcare initiatives.

Your day will conclude with a meet-and-greet session with the dedicated team and staff at Tsiyon Family Hospital, offering an opportunity for meaningful discussions and deeper insights into their mission and work.

Day 4Sayyi

Start your day with a delightful breakfast. For those interested, you may attend the 10:00 AM service at Pastor Elia’s Resurrection Centre Church. Alternatively, enjoy a leisurely walk through the charming village of Sayyi, taking in its local culture and atmosphere.

In the late afternoon, meet with Elia and Gloria to discuss the procedures and protocols for patient care at Tsiyon Family Hospital, gaining valuable insights into the facility’s operations.

Later in the day, Ambassador Sean Holland and Dr. Ianka Rodriguez will arrive at Entebbe International Airport. They will be welcomed and transported to Tsiyon Family Hospital in Sayyi to join the group.

 

Day 5Sayyi

In Sayyi, we will host a free medical clinic to deliver vital healthcare services to the community.

Medical and dental staff will provide care to patients as they arrive throughout the day, supported by volunteers assisting with various tasks. Non-medical participants will contribute by engaging in activities around the hospital, helping with logistics, and distributing items brought to share with the community.

Day 6Kampala

Begin your day in Kampala with a vibrant shopping excursion, exploring local markets and boutiques filled with unique souvenirs and handcrafted items.

After the shopping experience, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, savoring the flavors of the region. Following lunch, we will embark on the drive back to Sayyi, reflecting on the lively atmosphere of Kampala.

Day 7Sayyi / Fort Portal

After breakfast, we will depart for Fort Portal, celebrated as Uganda’s cleanest and most strategically located city.

This vibrant city is home to the Batooro people, who speak the Rutooro language and are known for their rich traditions, cultural customs, and indigenous handicrafts, as well as their deep sense of patriotism.

Upon arrival in Fort Portal, we will check into our hotel and take some time to relax. Later, we’ll explore the city on foot, immersing ourselves in its unique charm and local culture.

Day 8 Fort Portal

Today, we will visit and learn about the Hands of Mercy Health Initiative, a non-profit organization committed to delivering surgical and medical care to the people of Uganda.

Founded in 2023 by Dr. Ianka Rodriguez, the initiative was born out of her years of individual visits and mission trips to Fort Portal, located in Uganda’s western region. During these visits, Dr. Rodriguez recognized a critical need for medical attention, particularly among the pediatric population.

Since then, she has assembled a dedicated team of specialists who share her vision of transforming lives and addressing urgent healthcare needs in the community. This visit will provide valuable insight into the organization’s impactful work and its mission to bring hope and healing to those most in need.

Day 9 Murchison Falls National Park

Embark on an exciting journey to Kabalega National Park, widely known as Murchison Falls National Park. Renowned for hosting the world’s most powerful waterfall, the park showcases the awe-inspiring Murchison Falls, where an astounding 300 cubic meters (11,000 cubic feet) of water per second surges through a narrow gorge with tremendous force, causing the ground to tremble in its vicinity.

After an exhilarating day of exploration, you will stay overnight at accommodations near the park, allowing you to rest and prepare for more adventures ahead.

Day 10 Safari Day

Today, prepare for an exhilarating safari adventure as you explore the diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes of Murchison Falls National Park.

After a day filled with unforgettable experiences and incredible wildlife sightings, you will journey back to Sayyi, carrying with you lasting memories of the wonders of the natural world.
